Overview
SavaJe Technologies is pleased to announce the availability of the SavaJe XE release Beta 2 Version 0.9 for the Psion netBook. This release is the final release for this platform and is available as is with little or no support. See our online documentation and online FAQ's for more details.

Applications:
PIM: Version1.0
of SavaJe XE is bundled with a Personal Information Manager (PIM) that enables
appointment management, address book, task lists, notes, and mail from one
integrated application. The mail implementation supports POP3, IMAP4, HTML
3.2, MIME 1.1, off line reading. PIM data (but not email) may be imported
from Microsoft Outlook 2000. Full synchronization will be supported in a
future release.
Browser: The SavaJe XE web browser supports SSL, JavaScript, Java applets
and display zooming.
Music Player: An MP3 Player that can play individual tracks or play lists
from a local file system or through a URL.
Image Viewer: Image viewer that can slide through pictures and picture lists.
Some sample images are available in /cf0/jigsaw/images/.
Text Editor: A simple text editor.
Tools:
File Manager:
A file manager that can navigate through your file system, cut, edit, copy
files to and from other locations. The file manager also can be used to mount
remote file systems such as the web file system, and the Samba CIFS file system.
Backup Tool: A backup and restore tool that allows backing up and restoring
of the user file system and the entire RAM file system to and from an external
CF card.
Date & Time Tool: Click on the digital clock on the GUI to start a simple
tool that allows you to change the system date and time. NTP support is available;
see the Net Tool for configuring the timeservers.
Setup Tool: This tool can be configured to change the look and feel of the XE GUI and also allows you to manage short cuts for your applications’ JNLP files.
Lsh: A shell is provided for accessing SavaJe XE through a command line interface. For a list of supported shell commands visit our Online Documentation.
Task Manager: Task Manager offers a convenient way of getting a snapshot of all the applications running on the system at any given time.
Console View: The console captures all the output and errors generated by the applications that are launched using the GUI. The console view is handy when troubleshooting any problems.
Networking:
Network Configuration Tool: This tool can be used to configure your LAN, and Dialup networking. WLAN users can enable WEP encryption; Up to 4 Keys can be configured. In addition, XE supports setting the time using remote NTP servers. Use the net tool to configure your choice of DHCP assigned timeserver, or to specify a particular Time Server.
Games:
Jigsaw: A nice puzzle that jigsaw’s your favorite image. Some sample images are available in /cf0/jigsaw/images/.
Blocks: This is a Tetris-clone game that will provide hours of fun.
Licensing
This Beta 2 Verison 0.9 for netBook can be used only for development and evaluation.

o Complex Multimedia Applet issues: Running some complex multimedia applets in the web browser may cause an occasional red screen. If you notice this please e-mail support@savaje.com with details on the applet and the URL.
o NTP Time Server issues: Setting a static timeserver may not work. However if you are using DHCP, IP's are correctly obtained.
o The volume control of the SavaJe MP3 Player does not work.
o The device auto suspends on low battery. Upon resuming, the netbook appears with a green screen, which is unrecoverable. You will need to reboot the netbook with an AC Power source.
o
Suspending the device is not supported.
